We're Still Alive!

Busy, busy, busy all the time! No excuse I know... Life is still trucking along however our schedule has now been jarred as my work has decided to extend our hours and now I work until 8PM every other week as well as every other Saturday. I remain exhausted and poor Gillian sleeps in the wine cellar more than in her bed. Scott and I have decided to eventually leave Roanoke and have looked from coast to coast and still have not landed on the spot. We have at least three more years here so we have time but I'm ready to go when it does happen. In the midst of trying to decide we did manage to squeeze in a vacation to Florida to scope it out and visit our friends. Gillian did great on the way down but we did learn a very important lesson - dont travel with a 6 month old and if you do get a suite and not a hotel room. The first few days were trying on everyone. We took Gillian to the beach for the first time and she's not too sure about that whole thing. Scott took her out in the waves and she wasn't a big fan so I sat her down to where she would barely be touched and she seemed to like that better. That was so exhausting that she had to promtly nap due to the overwhelming excitement.

The pool on the other hand was a big hit, she loved to float around in her frog and giggled away when being thrown in the air and dipped into the pool. Again, a very exhausting adventure which turned into a several hour nap.

While in Florida and spending lots of time with our friends with twins, Scott and I realized that we are lacking in the toy department at home and the poor girl must be bored out of her mind. So I promtly ordered a couple of toys and have now officially been initiated into the misery of toy assembly. The things you do for the love of a child. Thank goodness she absolutely loves the toys otherwise I'd be pretty irritated. We're full fledged in the teething and have a normal routine when it starts up again, she coughs and I get sick. I heard her coughing last night so I'm sure next week I'll be under the weather and she'll be grumpy while getting the next set in. She's on "big girl" food now, which I'm making from scratch and oddly enough loves the veggies.

I don't think I had a single one when I was pregnant with her so I'm sorta baffled by it. Luckily we haven't found an allergy yet and she seems to love apples and can eat them by the ton. She's not a clean eater which makes Otis very happy and he seems to take care of her clean up at the end of her meal. Not my first choice of cleaning but it seems by the time I get the wet paper towel the mess is mysteriously gone, she still gets a good scrubbing from me! Well, that's life for now and am making the re-committment to blog more to keep everyone up to date and pictures posted - get excited for Halloween!
