One year down...

We made it thru the first year without any major incidences, no wacky hospital trips (other than my own), no major illnesses, no broken bones so I'd say so far so good. The best way to sum up this year is in one word: Change. The first change was our family of two became a family of three and that was the most amazing change. Long days, long nights, strange sleep patterns but all of that is gone and we've been lucky enough to experience all of the firsts all over again. First hoildays, first teeth, first crawl forward, first words, first time standing on our own; we're still waiting for the first steps but those will come in time.

On a personal level Scott and I have changed as well and have made the healty life change. We're eating better, working out regularly and don't seem to miss the old way of life. I joke that we're getting crunchier everyday but it turns out to be true - we're eating quinoa, fresh veggies, organic foods and meats - flat out tree huggers! I ran my first 5k in December and doing an 8k in March. Scott and I are doing our first triathalon in May and Scott is working to a half iron man in Novebember. Life used to be leftover fried chicken, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and now it's a salad and baked potato. I like this change and happy that we've decided to go this path, we start swimming classes on Monday night to get us going on our triathlon training and I hope I dont die in the process! Who knows what changes lie ahead for this year, I just hope they're as good as last years!

As for Gillian, she had a wonderful birthday and our dining room was overrun with toys, clothes and all kinds of goodies from her party. The Big Bug had a delicious Ladybug cake to dig into and loved every minute of it. Timid at first but once Scott put some football stripes under her eyes she was ready to rock!

She was covered head to toe and had a lovely bath in the bathroom sink to recover then soon went to the pac n play to nap. I can't wait for birthday number two and all of the great memories that will come with that one!
