A Time for Change

I've recently been researching a new diet called the Anti-Inflammatory diet and toying with the idea of following that program for my overall health. Let me clear something up real quick, this isn't a weight loss diet it's a lifestyle diet. The basics of the Anti-Inflammatory diet is to eliminate gluten, wheat, dairy, caffine, and all processed and refined foods; you embrace organics, fruits, veggies, and meats. Why such a crazy diet? The benefits will outweigh the sacrifices. As I take a look at myself, I am always tired no matter how much sleep I get; I'm in a fog and rarely remember converstations, things I need to do, just everyday things; and finally, I've been sick non-stop pretty much since Gillian was born. I'm taking my vitamins, excercising, eating healthier than I have in years but it's not enough. By eating the anti-inflammatory diet way the foods reduce inflammation in your body and will help relieve a lot of my frustrations. This is highly recommended for asthmatics, cancer patients, people suffering from ulcerative colitus, pretty much everything! I'm giving it a shot for a month and go from there so hopefully it will be an easier change than I expect. As I do more research and experiment with recipes I'll be happy to share!

As for my tri training I am severely lacking in motivation (see above for reasons) and I'm hoping that as the weather gets warmer and my races get closer I'll be more and more motivated to get in the gym. My IT band has been acting up in both of my knees lately and that's been a bit of a hinderence as well so I've stepped up my strength training in my legs hoping that will help aleviate that pain to allow me to run for more and a mile and a half. Who knows, my new diet may help with that too! Speaking of knees, Scott's knee is healing slowly but surely. It still hurts him on a daily basis but that mainly has to do with the fact that he's on his feet all day every day. We're going to give swimming a try on Monday so let's hope it goes well!

Last update today is a great one, Gillian is walking! She took her first steps on Valenties Day and has been taking steps here and there since. It's only a matter of time before she's turning the table on the dogs and she's chasing them! Her ears seem to be okay for now and I'll be taking her back to the doctor for a check up in a few weeks. As Gillian was getting over her ear infection Otis was getting his! I couldn't escape! At the vet it was discovered that despite a diet Otis had gained 10lbs and weighed in at a whopping 141 lbs! The vet took a sample of blood fearing a thyroid problem and she was right so now Otis is on thyroid pills everyday, twice a day for the rest of his life. He also goes for a check up in a few weeks to see if the pills are working. Kids! What can you do!
